Terms of Service

Last updated: 30 May 2026 · Effective for the Placeful Trips app and website.

The short version. Use Placeful to plan and enjoy your walks, not to break the law or copy our work. It's beta software, so it won't be perfect — and please keep your eyes on the road, not the screen. Subscriptions renew until you cancel.

These Terms are an agreement between you and Placeful Trips ("Placeful", "we", "us") governing your use of the Placeful Trips app and this website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who can use Placeful

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your country) and able to form a binding contract. If you use Placeful on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you're authorised to accept these Terms for it.

2. Beta software

Placeful is currently offered as a beta. That means features may change, break, or disappear, routes and stories are generated automatically and may contain errors, and availability isn't guaranteed. We provide the Service "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law.

3. Walk safely

Placeful is a guide, not a substitute for your own judgment. Stay aware of your surroundings, traffic, and local rules. Don't stare at your phone while crossing streets. Distances, times, opening hours, and "hidden gem" suggestions are estimates and can be wrong — verify anything that matters. You are responsible for your own safety and decisions while travelling.

4. Your account

If you create an account, keep your sign-in secure and don't share it. You're responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly at contact@placefultrips.com if you suspect unauthorised use.

5. Acceptable use

Please don't:

6. Content & intellectual property

The Service, our brand, the app design, and the audio stories and itineraries it generates are owned by Placeful or our licensors and are protected by law. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use them for your own travels. The places, photos, and links you import remain yours; you grant us only the limited rights needed to provide the Service to you.

7. Subscriptions & payments

Some features require a paid subscription. Where offered, a free trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled, and are billed through your Apple App Store or Google Play account — manage or cancel them there. Prices may change with notice. Refunds are handled under the store's policies; we can't issue store refunds directly.

8. Third-party services

Placeful relies on third parties (maps, routing, AI, voice, sign-in, and payments). We're not responsible for their content or availability, and your use of them may be subject to their own terms.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Placeful is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your reliance on routes, timings, stories, or suggestions. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by our negligence).

10. Termination

You can stop using Placeful and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms or to protect the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive (ownership, disclaimers, liability) continue after termination.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms; we'll change the date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer protections of your home country.
